Shoot Report – Peter Saich

Another great shoot on Father’s Day with 52 cards returned. Andy had worked particularly hard this week as he planned a layout utilising the wood, but at the request of the Gamekeeper to avoid that area, he planned layout ‘B’. Andy then went to Clandon to do a recce to check positions of livestock, electric fences etc. and found that his layout needed to be altered yet again to avoid trampling the hay which is due for cutting. Example layout

There were 45 members shooting including Spencer Jordan who has just joined as a Junior. He is Peter Saich’s grandson and is the fourth generation of the Saich Family to have been members of the Club.

Welcome Spencer.

Despite the distraction of having to carry out trap repairs including running adjustments to the troublesome rabbit stand and fetching more clays for the ‘self-emptying’ Battue trap, Andy shot brilliantly and scored 54 to win A Class including 5 straights. Second was Peter Saich on 52 and Rob Beere hit 51. Rob deserves a special mention as he drove up from his home in Devon in the morning, drove around picking up the traps and stayed to the end putting everything safely away, then left at 2.30 to drive home to Devon. Rob says he does it because he likes our Club! Thanks Rob and well shot.

Things were not so clear cut in B Class with a three-way tie on 45 between Des Park, Jerry Sollick and newly promoted Ron Turner. Using our count-back system of the number of straights, one away etc, Des won, Jerry was second and Ron was third. Well done to all.

In C Class, Charles Palmer won with an impressive 46.

Thanks to all those who helped set up, especially Stuart and Matt, and to everyone who stayed to help clear up.

Skeet evenings continue at NCSC Bisley on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Just turn up, no need to book. There is also an opportunity to shoot on their Sportrap layout if you want some Sporting Practice (just like Charles Palmer did). Let Peter or Andy know in advance and we should be able to arrange it.
