Shoot Report – Peter Saich
Thanks as usual to the set-up team, especially Andy who managed to spread the traps in and around the wood meaning less walking for the shooters as we were able to stick to the newly cleared circular route.
Thanks also to the small working party who stayed to the end to help clear everything out of the woods and get it safely away. Any future help would be much appreciated – a few people staying to help with the little jobs – tidying up cartridges, emptying traps, taking down stands etc enables the core team to concentrate on getting all those traps on the trailers in the correct order so that they all fit in and then get home a little earlier.
There were 35 members and 7 guest cards returned. The average score was 42, the highest this year although this doesn’t mean that the layout was easy, just well thought out, sensible targets as usual and again some stands making you think which target to take first.
Equal top scores of 54 in AA were Kevin Scarlett and Andy Willett. Also scoring 54 to win A Class was Nigel Foreman, with Peter Saich one behind on 53.
It was also close in B class with Gavin Smith beating Alex Wells on countback on number of straights after both finished on 49.
In C Class, Lorina Warsop was the clear winner scoring 39. John Hughes was second with 36 and Chris Grist was third with 35.
Our next shoot combines the Surrey CPSA Side by Side Championship so you have the option of dusting off the pair of Purdeys or bringing out grandad’s old pigeon gun. There is a trophy for the highest Surrey CPSA Member, and also the Webley and Scott Trophy for anyone else using a Side by Side. Andy usually does his best to provide ‘sympathetic’ targets so expect Pheasant, Partridge, Grouse or Rabbit targets.
